Dear Parents
3M’s Assembly
This week we have been celebrating a very important person in all our lives: our mum! Thank you 3M for your lovely assembly in which you told us why your mum is so special to you. We heard why mums were special for their amazing cooking, hugs, tickles and jokes. We also found out what TV programmes they like watching with you and what pop songs they like! I also enjoyed listening to your fabulous acrostic poems and your fantastic rendition of Supermum!
The following was read and written by Bomi.
My mum’s personality is marvellous
Unmatched, my mum is perfect
My time with her is magical
Mums are awesome, they are a great help all day long.
You need your mum a lot, they wash your clothes, make your food and take care of you.
These lines spell the word mummy, a word I cherish most in my life. Bomi
Thank you 3M and Mrs Morrice for a very special assembly.
Out and About with 1W
I visited 1W on Wednesday who were discussing Mothers’ Day. They began by looking at the origin of the day. Mrs Wilson said that it is not clear when it started but one theory was that the young servants, who worked at the big house many years ago, were only allowed one full day off a year, which was on a Sunday and they were given this day to visit their mums. The class talked about what traditions were associated with Mothers’ Day. Jaya said we give our mums cards and Eliza said we could give them jewellery. They then talked about what is great about their mums. Hollie said her mum is beautiful; Amber said she is loving; Muhammad said she is helpful and Aaron said she looks after him. The children then wrote down what is special about their mums. Joshua wrote that his mum is nice and drew a picture of him giving her flowers; Thomas E wrote that his mum is helpful; Sophie wrote she is kind; Bethan wrote that her mum is caring; Ayman drew a picture of his mum and said she is loving and Thomas P wrote, ‘I love my mum’; Taylor wrote, ‘My mum loves me!’
It was lovely to hear the children talk about their mums and what makes them special with a big warm smile on their face. Thank you 1W, it was a lovely start to my day!
Mothers’ Day Coffee Morning
It was fantastic to see such a high attendance at the Mothers’ Day coffee morning on Thursday. It was very rewarding to see so many children and mums spending a few special moments together in the middle of the week before the start of the day. Thank you to the PTA and Mr McGrath and his staff for making the morning possible.
Surprise Shop!
There were lots of very important decisions being made this morning by the children. They really had fixed ideas of what their mums would like and some of the reasoning behind their choices was very touching to hear. I know you won’t be disappointed by their choices. Thank you again to the PTA for making this morning possible.
Easter Egg Raffle
It is that time of year again when the children get very excited and the rustle of raffle tickets can be heard all around the school! Tickets are on sale in the Dining Room in the morning and at home time until Tuesday 28th (morning only). Please keep bringing Easter Eggs in to the office.

Rugby v St Mary’s Hall
On a very wet Wednesday, we managed to rearrange a match, which we had intended to play at Stonyhurst, to Preston Grasshoppers’ new 4G facility. The boys played very well in their last game of the season and put up a very spirited performance, defending well in the first quarter and scoring five unanswered tries in the last quarter. However, this fantastic comeback left us just one try short. This was a very strong performance to end a season in which the boys have really developed as individuals and as a team. We now look forward to the cricket season.
