Highfield Priory

2016 Changes to the NCT Assessment

In 2016, the Key Stage 2 NCT Assessments were the first to assess the new, more challenging National Curriculum. Results are no longer reported as levels, and each pupil receives their test result as a scaled score and teacher assessment (based on the standards provided in the interim framework). The EXPECTED standard in the test was a scaled score of 100 or above. The National Average NCT results for Key Stage 2 pupils reaching the new EXPECTED standard was 71% in  English and 70% in Maths.

Highfield Priory consistently out performs the National Average with our NCT results.

NCT Results Before 2016

The National Curriculum sets standards of achievement in each subject for pupils aged 5-14. These were called SATs (Standard Attainment Tests) but have now been renamed NCTs (National Curriculum Tests). Tests are taken when pupils reach the end of each Key Stage. These tests give an indication of how pupils compare to the national standards.

7 year olds are expected to achieve level 2
11 year olds are expected to reach level 4
13 year olds are expected to reach level 5
14 year olds are expected to reach level 6

The excellent teaching and learning opportunities available at Highfield Priory are reflected in our NCT results when compared nationally at level 5 - the standard which most 13 year olds are expected to achieve.
