Baby Nursery

HIGHFIELD PRIORY NURSERY DAY

6 months - 2  years old

8.00-8.30am A warm welcome and breakfast for the early arrival of the children if required.

8.30 onwards

Routines are flexible allowing an element of choice and discovery through play and guidance from our staff who maintain a balance of adult and child led initiated activities.

All the daily activities and events are displayed on our parent information board.

Close individual attention is given to all of our children, who receive constant stimulation by talking, singing and playing in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

Treasure baskets are available to encourage heuristic play which is undisturbed and enables our youngest children to be curious and to investigate in their own time. The children have freedom to explore and make choices, with routines being determined by individuals and flowing to suit their needs .

We provide a range of  activities throughout our continuous play provision.   Children are free to investigate and explore through play using natural sensory materials such as cornflour gloop, pasta, oats, foam, play dough, sand and water activities.

Our children are taken outdoors daily on established routes that are constantly risk assessed.

We ensure that care routines, such as sleep, feeding and nappy changing are carried out to reflect individual requirements.

Snack time takes place mid morning and mid afternoon.  Fresh fruit, fruit juice or water is available throughout the day.

11.30-12.30pm The social aspect of mealtimes is emphasised, with staff sitting at the tables with children in small groups. We have a fully-trained Cook in house to prepare and produce healthy, home-cooked meals and snacks. Before your child starts at the Nursery, we can discuss with you your child's dietary needs and weaning process, including any allergies.

3.00-4.00pm Tea time

Play underpins the delivery of the EYFS where learning is fun.  Our daily guidance includes the seven areas of learning which support your child's natural curiosity.  Staff encourage language and numbers through songs and books and one-to-one interaction.  The physical development of our youngest children will be encouraged through activities to improve their skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement, both inside and outside and interactively.  Staff support the children to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of their world.  We always encourage creativity helping our children to express themselves and develop their imagination.

All children are allocated a key person when joining the nursery. This ensures that a close and loving relationship is secured and clear records of development are kept of children’s progress throughout their learning journey.

5.30-6.00pm   Singing to include nursery rhymes and songs

There is an allocated snooze room where the children can rest during the day.

Changes will be made as and when required to suit individual needs of the children in the group.
