Out And About With The Headmaster

ISI Inspectors visited the school on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was very interesting for me to look around the school with their critical eye. The weather really played its part and showed off Highfield’s beautiful setting to maximum advantage. It was a wonderful couple of days which really gave our staff in EYFS a chance to demonstrate what they do so well on a day to day basis:

Ø Reception was busy in PE and very responsive in Maths and English with their hands shooting up; all very eager to learn.

Ø Pre-school was engrossed in group work with Miss Halstead and Miss Metcalf and baking cookies with Mrs Field.

Ø Nursery was on the move with its regular visit to the Library and exploring the outdoor play equipment.

Ø Our babies were using their sensory skills to find out more about different flowers.

The range of activities and learning experiences was very impressive and the Inspectors were very positive about everything they observed and enjoyed their time at our School. They would like to thank the parents and staff who made them feel so welcome.

A full report will be published (and printed for parents from Early Years and Foundation Stage) next month. Thank you to all those parents who filled in questionnaires. I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work, not just over the last few days but throughout the year, in making our EYFS facility such a warm, caring and creative learning environment. I look forward to sharing the full report with you next month.

Mr J Duke
