Thank you 2F for your brilliant assembly about the Fire of London this morning. You really brought the hall to life with your singing and acting. I was also fascinated to hear all the facts you have been learning about the Fire of London. You all certainly looked like you have enjoyed studying this subject and I know that this performance will help you to remember many of the facts. Thank you Mrs Field for arranging this assembly.
Thank you Year 3 and Year 5 for your fantastic performance of The Tempest on Thursday. The use of physical theatre really brought the play to life with the children not just excelling with their spoken word but also in their movements and interactions with each other. It certainly added to the overall impact of the performance. I was very impressed by Year 3 who were performing famous speeches from Shakespeare’s The Tempest throughout the performance. It was quite amazing to see 7 and 8 year olds deliver Shakespeare with confidence and understanding. The singing was also fantastic with a lovely arrangement of songs that I am sure will stay with the cast and audience for weeks to come. As I write this, my foot is tapping along to ‘My Milan’! Thank you to Miss Burns who choreographed the excellent dance routines throughout the performance; thank you to Mr Drake for his sound and lighting expertise and Mrs Morrice for her support with the set and props. A huge thank you from us all to Mrs Duke and Miss Macklam for their dramatic and musical direction of this play. It was a triumph!
News from the Nursery
Nursery has been making the most of the glorious sunshine we’ve been having this week! Mrs Beaumont, and her fabulous green fingers, has been out in the garden digging and planting - with the help of the children of course! They have all been enjoying lots of water play outdoors: bathing the dolls and washing the cars. What a lovely way to cool down.
Mrs Patel-Smith has been appointed as a new Parent-Governor at Highfield Priory School. I would like to welcome her to the Governing Body and thank her for offering her support and time to help Highfield to continue to flourish and go from strength to strength.
School will be holding an Open Morning on June 15th, 9am - 12noon. If you know anyone who is interested in visiting our school please pass this date on or give them my contact details. email@example.com
National Curriculum Tests
Good luck to all our Year 6 pupils who will be taking their National Curriculum Tests next week. You have all worked incredibly hard and I know that if you read the questions carefully and concentrate you will achieve your potential. Make sure you get to bed early over the weekend and are fully rested for Monday.
Under 11s Football ISA Cup
Congratulations to the Under 11s football team who won 3-1 against Beech House in the ISA quarter final. They have now qualified for the finals day later this term. Well done boys!
Cricket v Oakhill
The Year 6 boys got off to a winning start on Wednesday against Oakhill School. After an accurate bowling performance from Highfield, the boys managed to restrict Oakhill to 71 runs taking 10 wickets. Highfield set about the run-chase with some hard hitting especially from Aditya, Thomas and Noah. In all, we hit 17 fours giving us a winning total of 100. Thank you Oakhill for your hospitality. We now need to focus on our fielding for our next game.
Rounders v Oakhill
On Wednesday 2nd May, the Year 6 girls played rounders v Oakhill. The A team had some very good batting in the first half and excellent fielding in the second half. As a result of this we won 16-111/2. The B team did very well but didn’t get as many rounders. Unfortunately, they lost 12-7. We all really enjoyed it and look forward to the next match. Millie
Please could every pupil bring in a labelled bottle of sun cream to be kept at school.
No toys should be brought into school, including Fidget Spinners. They are a distraction and can cause disappointment and distress when they are lost or broken.

Thought for the Week
Time is very slow for those who wait. Very fast for those who are scared. Very long for those that lament. Very short for those who celebrate. But for those who love, time is eternal. William Shakespeare.
