Rounders v Malsis

On Wednesday 15th May the rounders team, in which all Years 5 and 6 played, set off to Malsis in Yorkshire. It was very wet and windy when we set off and it was still raining when we arrived

Our first Rounders match of the year was played on Wednesday away at Rossall. All the girls in Years 5 and 6 went and we all played. Everyone was very excited for our first match! We left Highfield with the sun out; it was lovely and warm.

In short this is a very difficult game to summarise. Our team had the majority of the possession and most of the game was played in the opposition’s half. However, St. Anthony’s carried a potent counter-attacking threat all game and capitalised on the majority of the few chances they managed to produce.

The senior team played their next Harold Slater Shield Cup fixture on a cold afternoon at the UCLan Sports Arena. They played well and won emphatically (9 v 2) to obtain a place in the semi-final of another cup competition and begin dreaming of playing at Deepdale in the final.

Netball v Oakhill

This was the Netball team’s first match of the season. All the Year 5 and 6 girls represented the school in this match. Due to the heavy rain, the match was played in the Sports Hall. Highfield got off to a good start with some strong team play which led to goals being scored.

Player of the match goes to Sophie and Hannah. The final score was 16-12 to Highfield.

The boys’ first Football match is next Wednesday against St Pius X School.
