Academic Achievement
Our aim is to get the most out of our young people and to help ensure that they get the most out of all Highfield Priory has to offer them. Each pupil is challenged and stretched at every opportunity with the emphasis remaining on literacy, numeracy and scientific investigation. Additionally, we seek to develop children's creative and imaginative aptitudes, whether they are in music, drama, dance or sport.
Children are prepared for their first choice of senior school which the majority of our children achieve. Each year a number of children are offered scholarships for academic performance or for their musical or sporting achievements.
The SATs results place the school in The Sunday Times top 100 prep schools in England, a position we have maintained for many years. At present, we hold the top position in the North West of England.
We ensure that our prevailing ethos is that all children will have every opportunity to learn in an exciting and dynamic school environment. They will have the opportunity to design, to create, to build, to experiment, to imagine and, in so doing, learn.
SATs Results
The National Curriculum sets standards of achievement in each subject for pupils aged 5-14 called SATs (Standard Attainment Tests). Tests are taken when pupils reach the end of each Key Stage. These tests give an indication of how pupils compare to the national standards.
7 year olds are expected to achieve level 2
11 year olds are expected to reach level 4
14 year olds are expected to reach level 5/6
At Highfield Priory we test our pupils at levels 4 and 5.
The excellent teaching and learning opportunities available at Highfield Priory are reflected in our SATs results when compared to the national average at level 5 -the standard which most 13/14 year olds are expected to achieve. Nationally, in 2009, 32% of children achieved level 5. Highfield's results were:
