It is a pleasure to welcome you to our website and to share with you our school.

As you look around Highfield, I hope that you will see that life here is about the education of the whole person and that Highfield pupils are happy, intelligent, confident children who are aware of and interested in the world around them. The wealth of opportunity available to our pupils encourages an active body and mind and a true desire to AIM HIGH!

Our results speak for themselves with the Sunday Times ranking us as the Top Preparatory School in Lancashire and the North West. We have very high academic standards with the overall aim of giving our pupils choice. The doors of the highly competitive local Grammar Schools and a variety of Independent Schools are wide open to our children as we help them to prepare academically for their Entrance Exams. In Public Speaking, we prepare them for Interview, with many gaining scholarships to their school of choice. Our specialist teachers and facilities help to stimulate and challenge our pupils in the fields of Art, Drama, ICT, French, Music, Sport, Elocution and Science. At Highfield, we strive to stimulate and challenge our pupils, recognizing as we do how active their brains are in their early years and how alert their minds.

Whilst being undeniably and unashamedly hard working here at Highfield, we also teach our children to play and to develop a love and appreciation of the Great Outdoors. In an age where computer games and indoor pursuits can dominate a child’s life, we take our children orienteering and teach them leadership skills and team building exercises. We take them on a variety of trips to beautiful locations, culminating in a residential adventure holiday in Shropshire. We are proud of our woodland setting in the midst of a busy and bustling city and are in the process of developing our woodland walk into an Outdoor Learning Environment in which our children will be able to indulge in a variety of activities, from the study of mini-beasts to outdoor theatre.
