Testimonials

Highfield was our choice as parents for a number of reasons, amongst these were:

  • small class sizes
  • excellent placing in The Times league tables - consistently placed in the top 100!
  • fantastic feedback from other parents
  • central location of the school

Our son has been at Highfield since 2 years of age.  Throughout that time, the school has maintained and excelled the above expectations.  Our son is extremely happy and actually looks forward to going to school!  He enjoys the good variety of lessons and the consistency of the teaching input.  Even at not quite 6 years of age, he talks proudly of his school and teachers to others.  We would, without hesitation, recommend Highfield to prospective parents of the future!

Our daughter has had many very happy years at Highfield and it has been a delight for us, as parents, to see her grow, develop and blossom educationally and socially in response to the wonderful teaching, loving, caring and happy environment of the school.  The support and guidance given to our daughter together with the good balance of academic excellence achieved ensured she was prepared well for the easy transition to her chosen senior school.  Her actual words on leaving were, ‘I have loved every minute of being at Highfield and I will continue to make them proud of me in the future’.

Having looked at several prep schools in the area, we selected Highfield having been impressed with the facilities and happy atmosphere. Our daughter joined age 3 and remained there until she had no choice but to move to secondary school. As an only child, she thrived in Highfield’s environment, developing social skills and confidence beyond our expectations. As a keen sports person she was encouraged to join teams and anticipate in extra curricular activities. School Trips were eagerly looked forwarded to. She started flute and worked her way through her grades continuing today at secondary school. The teaching standards are very high with teachers who care deeply about the  children maintaining a balance between stretching the gifted and supporting those less able.  Homework was introduced slowly early on and became an accepted part of school making the transition to senior school easy. Highfield’s preparation in the final year for moving to the larger environment of senior school and the taking of entrance exams made the process far less worrying for both us and our daughter. The advice for onward choice of school was helpful and unbiased and based firmly around our daughter. Never was the school moto of Aim High more relevant. Henrietta passed all senior entrance exams entered and had choice of senior schools – Highfield was a key component to this, preparing the children with mock exams and interviews. Moving the children towards senior school teaching with varying teachers for different subjects also helped with the onward transition. I don’t think as parents we realised just what a superb school Highfield was and is until she left and settled seamlessly into her new school. We were even taken aback with the fact that in some subjects she was significantly further ahead than classmates joining from other schools. Henrietta loved Highfield enough to want to return on open day to thank her teachers and tell them how well she’d settled in and how great Highfield’s preparation had been. She is still in contact with many of her old classmates. We would wholeheartedly recommend Highfield to any parent considering sending their child there – it’s been worth every penny and was a  great investment.
