Dear Parents
5M Assembly
Thank you Year 5, for a very interesting assembly on Extreme Weather which links in with the work you are covering in Geography this term. You were incredibly knowledgeable on the subject and your delivery was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the little plays about television programmes and I think we all learnt a great deal. I also liked the way you had really thought about what actions you could all take on a day-to-day basis to save energy. I hope we will all take some of your ideas away with us to try out in our daily lives. Thank you Miss Macklam for arranging the assembly and well done 5M!
Out and About
I was back in Nursery this week, visiting the Toddler Room. The children had been very busy before I turned up, sponge painting and Christmas stocking making. There were some wonderful creations drying. We definitely have some budding artists in this group and it is also one of their favourite activities. I watched Presley and Scarlett sitting together on a cushion reading a book very content in each other’s company: a lovely scene. Edward was the first to interact with me, showing me a fish before we spent time putting different objects in a colander to see what noise they made when we shook it. Violet was playing hairdressers and was showing everyone her hair with curlers in it. Arthur was playing Peek a Boo with Ayaanah; Arthur was laughing out loud and Ayaanah was smiling and giggling every time he said, ‘Boo!’. Sofia was keen to show me the different hats that she was trying on and a blue bowl seemed to be the most popular. Yusayrah was playing with a big bottle with Mrs Smithson taking the top on and off and balancing it on the floor. All the children were incredibly active, exploring the area, interacting with one another and trying out different activities. They must have had a busy morning because they all started to pretend they were going to bed just before I left: lying down, finding pillows and blankets and saying, ‘Goodnight!’ to one another! However, when I announced I was going, they all jumped up and gave me a big goodbye and a wave of the hand. What a lovely group of children!
Under 9s Football v Oakhill
This match was played in the Oakhill Sports Hall with both teams showing a lot of commitment and spirit. The Highfield boys supported each other with lots of encouragement and a high level of effort throughout the game. Henry played particularly well, covering a lot of ground and really making his presence felt and Ahmed had a good match in goal. Although we came second, the boys showed a lot of promise for the future. They now need to focus on their passing and their awareness of where their team mates are on the pitch.
Water Bottles
Please could we make sure that all water bottles are clear and have sports caps to prevent spillages from occurring. Thank you.
Winter Uniforms
Please could all children have school coats and jumpers or cardigans in school every day. If your child wishes to wear hats or gloves, they should be plain, in the school colours with no logos. School hats and gloves are available from the Office.
Mad Science
All children who applied have been successful in gaining a place in this activity.
Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you to all the pupils and parents who have supported the Book Fair this week. The Fair will continue on Monday and Tuesday next week. Remember, every book you buy from Scholastic helps us add more books to our library.
Child Genius
Child Genius returns for a fourth series in February 2016, on Channel 4, and is looking for children aged 8-12 (and their families) to take part. The producer has contacted the school and has given us information to hand out. Any parents who may be interested should contact the School Office for details.
HPPTA Cabaret Tickets
This event will be held on 6 February 2016 and is an evening of live entertainment. This is the first adult only event we have had for a number of years and it gives all those who attend a chance to get to know more people in the school community. Tickets are on sale now in the Office.

Our Christmas Party Day and Fayre is coming soon on Fri 11 December. Full information and raffle tickets will be sent home with your child next week.
How Can You Help? Each year group is fronting a stall at the Christmas Fayre 3-5pm. Please let your year group leader know if you can help on the day or with any preparation.

We also need helpers for decorating school for Christmas (next Tuesday, 1 December 8.30am) and serving hot drinks for the Nativity shows. Please sign up to help on the list on the HPPTA cupboard door, where dates are also shown. Many thanks in advance for your support.
HPPTA are urgently looking for a parent to become the treasurer from January 2016. Please speak to the Chairs if you are interested.
