Christmas Party

The children enjoyed a fantastic party day today. They took part in lots of activities including decorating gingerbread men and a lucky dip. They also enjoyed a special visit from Father Christmas and danced and played games with DJ Taz. Thank you to all the PTA and Ms Eccles for organising the afternoon and making it such a memorable occasion for the children.

The Nativity

The Angel Express came to Highfield this week with our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Nativity. The Reception and Infant children sang beautifully and remembered a variety of choreographed moves for each song which they performed with beaming smiles on their faces. Our Year Two pupils delivered their lines with confidence throughout the play, demonstrating stage presence and a real understanding of comedic timing - a very difficult concept for children aged 6 and 7! I also enjoyed the variety of dance moves which accompanied most songs. I was humming the catchy tunes all the way home! Thank you to all the staff for their support, Mrs Street for her musical direction and Ms Eccles for her overall direction. Well done, everyone!

Carol Concert

The refurbishment of St Maria Goretti Church this year meant the Carol Concert had to be moved into school. The staff all worked together to transform the Sports Hall and create a lovely atmosphere for our Carol Concert. The quality and calibre of the singing was quite incredible. The children really rose to the occasion with some very moving songs and beautiful hymns performed by our school choir, with small group performances throughout. The children also wrote their own prayers and we had a lovely solo flute performance from Natasha. The children made the evening very special and it seemed even more appropriate for the evening to take place at home, in the heart of the school. A big thank you to Miss Macklam for all her hard work directing our amazing choir and to all the staff who helped to make the evening so memorable.

Celebration Assembly

It was lovely to see and hear about all the different activities the children are taking part in and all their out-of-school achievements. Children received awards ranging from running and gymnastics to roller skating. Congratulations to all those children who received a certificate and keep up the good work!

Bethany House

Our Year Six children made their annual visit, this morning, to sing carols and spend time with the residents of Bethany House. The children sang very familiar carols like O Little Town of Bethlehem and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing which many of the residents enjoyed joining in with or tapping their feet and hands in time to the music. The children received a round of applause after the carols and then moved in amongst the residents to share stories and chat. It was lovely to see the different generations discussing Christmas, families and school. The faces of the children and residents were really animated as they both listened intently and gained so much from the experience. It was very difficult to prise the children away and they left with a real spring in their step as they returned to school for lunch.

ISA Football Cup

The senior football team played a fixture against Cransley in the ISA Cup on Wednesday afternoon. We produced some football that was very attacking and expansive with a great deal of skill and technique on display. A key feature of the game was our domination of possession and also the rapidity with which we counter attacked. We ran out deserved 5-1 winners. This was our best performance of the season. Hopefully, the victory will give us a renewed sense of confidence to push deeper into the competition. Mr Turner

Well done Manavi - a fantastic achievement!

We went digital in Year 5 at the end of last term as we recorded the pupils reading their favourite pieces of creative writing. πŸŽ™ 🎚

After they had made the recordings, the class then created a QR code for each and then put these together with the narrator's picture, ready for them to be listened to at our Open Day.

The class loved being part of this process and learning how to make their work digital, and the parents really enjoyed listening to their children’s stories. πŸ“– Great work Year 5! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Photos from Highfield Priory School's post
