Dear Parents

Welcome to the Summer Term
Welcome back! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break and enjoyed the amazing weather over the Bank Holiday weekend. The children certainly looked refreshed and ready for the busy and exciting term ahead. Highlights in the first few weeks are our Year 3 and 5 Production: Victorian Villainy on 9th May, numerous sporting fixtures and the Year 6 National Curriculum Tests which start on 13th May. We have also arranged an Internet Safety Talk for all the children during the school day and for parents on 17th May at 3.30pm. Children will be looked after in the Homework Room for parents who wish to attend.

Holiday Club and Nursery
Holiday Club and Nursery have been busy over the last two weeks enjoying the sunshine and the school grounds. In the first week, the Holiday Club were in The Haven using the natural environment to make faces and artistic pictures on the ground. Mrs Lockwood also made friendship bracelets with the Juniors. Easter was the main theme of the second week. Nursery and Holiday Club both had an Easter Egg Hunt around the school grounds and inside the school, including the school office! Holiday Club also made Easter pictures and plaster of paris Easter eggs. Amritha used the resources to make a chicken, sitting in a bath with a shower cap on and Amber made a fantastic sheep using pipe cleaners for the legs. They also played lots of team games on the field and all-weather pitch, including flying kites. Nursery created Easter egg nests, little chicks out of small cups and they drew pictures of Easter eggs on the playground. It was wonderful to see the children really making the most of the school grounds and facilities. Remember to visit our Facebook pages to catch up on the week.

Contact Number for After-School Club
If you need to contact the school after 4.30pm, please ring the After-School Club on 01772 706704 or Nursery on 01772 706700.

Summer Uniform
The children look very smart in their summer uniform this week. Please could I remind all parents of the uniform list below which is published before the start of the academic year. I also sent out a uniform reminder before the Easter holidays. We do have a few children who are not wearing school summer hats and a number of children wearing the wrong socks. Sunglasses should not be brought into school and children need to bring a named bottle of suntan lotion to be kept in class. Thank you for your support.

Boys’ Uniform: Grey shorts (not cargo style), grey ankle socks. Black shoes or navy closed toe sandals. Short sleeved shorts are optional.
Girls’ Uniform: Light blue and white striped dress, white ankle socks or tights. Black shoes or navy closed toe sandals.

Building Strength and Individuality

The latest from Highfield Priory

We went digital in Year 5 at the end of last term as we recorded the pupils reading their favourite pieces of creative writing. ๐ŸŽ™ ๐ŸŽš

After they had made the recordings, the class then created a QR code for each and then put these together with the narrator's picture, ready for them to be listened to at our Open Day.

The class loved being part of this process and learning how to make their work digital, and the parents really enjoyed listening to their childrenโ€™s stories. ๐Ÿ“– Great work Year 5! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚Photos from Highfield Priory School's post

Class 6H enjoyed a trip to local retirement home Bethany House recently.

In preparation for the visit, the children had learnt some traditional songs, including songs from famous musicals. Once there, the children entertained the residents with a good old-fashioned sing song and even brought along song sheets so that everyone could join in! ๐ŸŽค ๐ŸŽผ

The class had also made some Easter cards for all the people who live there which they handed out before sadly having to wave goodbye to all the ladies and gentlemen.

It is always so lovely to see our children forming such good friendships with the residents and it is great to see Highfieldโ€™s relationship with Bethany House going from strength to strength! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚Photos from Highfield Priory School's post
