 Dear Parents

The Autumn Term is now well under way and it is lovely to see the children enjoying lessons, achieving high levels of attainment and making good progress in all areas. They are also enjoying their free time in the playground where they have been playing a variety of imaginative games with their friends, especially our Reception children who have created some amazing masterpieces and worlds to play in with their play equipment. One of the highlights of my day has been opening the gates at 8am and watching the children race in with big smiles, excited about the start of a new day. So much energy!

Below is just one example of the fantastic work that has been achieved so far this term.

Extract from 'The Lighthouse' by Diya, 6P
The majestic lighthouse stood regally, towering over miniscule dwellings with blinding beams, shining onto the jet-black, starless sky. Suddenly, the merciless sea roared furiously like a lion hunting for prey, drenching the jagged, uneven rocks that were as sharp as glistening knives.
What an introduction! Well done, Diya!

Artist and Composer of the Term
Our Artist of the term is Mondrian and the Composer of the term is Bach. The assembly this morning introduced the school to both artists and the children will be discovering more about their lives and work throughout the term in lessons and in discussion time. We would love you to get involved at home and enjoy celebrating the work of Bach and Mondrian with your whole family.

Covid 19 Measures
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your response to, and support of, the measures we have put in place to protect the children and the wider community this term. Please could I remind parents to arrive at school at the allocated time and to stay in your vehicle at pick-up until you see your child is ready to be collected. We are working incredibly hard in school to maintain distance between the separate bubbles throughout the day and we need to maintain this distance at pick-up time too.
The Prime Minister has stressed the importance of face coverings this week and I would like to remind all adults on the school site to wear a face covering if you cannot maintain a 2m distance from another family or adult. Thank you for your support in this matter.

A big congratulations to Highfield alumna Manavi whose team were victorious in the 'Youth Speaks' North of England Final last Sunday!
