Dear Parents
Year 6 Assembly
Thank you Year 6 for your Assembly of Thanksgiving which focused on positive thinking and looking to the future. It was lovely to hear some of your aspirations for the future, including personal fitness trainer and business woman. It was also uplifting to hear what you are thankful for and it really did make us think about how lucky we are. We enjoyed hearing about the festivals that are being celebrated at the moment by our families and families around the world: Diwali, Hannukah, Christmas and Thanksgiving. You covered so much in such a short space of time. I was particularly impressed by your very sensitive and mature approach to each topic. Thank you Year 6 and Mrs Prince. The singing of our school song, ‘Shine Out!’ was a lovely way to end the week.
Children’s Behaviour
In the spirit of our Year 6 Assembly and Thanksgiving, I would like to say that I am thankful for our children at this school and the way they have all conducted themselves this term. They have approached each challenge with a smile on their face and they have continued to aim high in all that they do! They have adapted to working from home and from school and they have helped to protect the whole school community by following new procedures. I would like to thank our children and our wonderful staff for their incredible resilience and adaptability. Highfield will remain strong and together we will look forward to returning to a more normal routine later in the academic year.
Christmas Preparations
This week we have been preparing the school for our annual seasonal celebrations. The Christmas decorations around school are up in time for the start of December and the temperature is dropping! Will we have a white Christmas? Preparations are underway for our Christmas productions which we hope to post online at the end of term. Christmas Party Day and Christmas lunch arrangements are also being finalised. I am really pleased that we are managing to have so many of our usual seasonal events and that the school is looking and feeling so festive.
Please keep looking at our Facebook pages. This week we posted a video of our Year 6 Prize Giving from half-term, celebrating the success of our Class of 2020. Nursery and Pre-School have also been incredibly busy in The Haven and we look forward to seeing their adventures on Facebook over the next few weeks. The Sunday Times has sent our new Top Ten logo for 2021, our third year in the Top Ten! This is an incredible achievement for the whole school community. Please celebrate our success with friends, family and colleagues.
Cold Weather Clothing
The children have looked incredibly smart this term. Please could I remind you that all children must have a school coat in school this term. If your child would like to bring in extra garments to keep warm, then they must be a school hat and scarf and plain maroon or navy gloves.
Covid-19 Update
Please could all parents communicate with school by email, schooloffice@highfieldpriory.co.uk or phone. If you need to enter the school building to visit the office please wear a mask.
Could I remind parents not to send children into school if there is someone in the house with Covid-19 symptoms.
