Dear Parents
It has been wonderful to have the children fully back in school for the last three weeks of term. They have really enjoyed returning to a normal routine, catching up with their friends and being part of the whole Highfield community within school.
The Easter Egg Raffle and excellent Music Assembly this week were the highlights of what has been a very busy and successful return to school. The teachers have been impressed by the children’s enthusiasm in class and the high standard of work they are achieving. I am very proud of all our pupils who have continued to show incredible resilience and character during the last year and who have continued to Aim High in all things.
I would like to share a few verses which have been written by our Year 6 pupils this week. They helped me to reflect on what it means to be young and just how unique each child is; they are a constant source of inspiration!
I Am
People recognise me as Talia
But frankly…
I’m a rainbow’s spectrum shining brightly and admiring the view below.
I’m a cheeky monkey swinging expertly from side to side in the treetops.
I’m an ancient book, full to the brim with mysterious and happy endings.
I’m a wild horse galloping rapidly on the prairie without a care in the world.
I’m often thought to be Hasan
But really..
I’m a reliable diary being written in by children who need help,
I’m a display board in the classroom, holding up the work all day.
I’m a funny book being laughed at enthusiastically by all the children in the class,
I’m an endangered penguin doing tricks in the tank, trying to impress everyone.
I reply to the name Lameesa
But in reality..
I’m a sophisticated butterfly showing off my resplendent patterns,
I’m a birthday card merrily distributing jubilation to everyone I know.
I’m the only lustrous diamond gleaming from the nest.
I’m a security camera perceiving every lawbreaker that steps foot in the shop!
I’m referred to as Reya,
But inside…
I’m the Milky Way galaxy, colourful and swirling like a dancer all year round,
I’m the first tree to blossom with flowers and trees, the beginning of Spring,
I’m the eagle soaring freely through the sky, going home to my friends,
I’m the little squirrel, not afraid to do something different or to try something new.
