Dear Parents

4J Class Assembly

Last Friday, 4J taught us all about the importance of preparation and they gave us some very interesting facts about Advent! It was inspiring to see the gifts that they would like to give to others who do not already have them. These included blankets, water, time, shelter and many more thoughtful gifts! Everyone displayed confidence and demonstrated an impressive command of the stage. Thank you for sharing your personal hopes and preparations with us and well done for a wonderful performance! Thank you to Mrs. Jones for preparing this Assembly.

Christmas Decorations

Thank you to Mr. Desai and his team of PTA helpers for transforming the school last Friday. It was very rewarding to witness the excitement on the children’s faces as they came out of their morning lessons to a winter wonderland. The PTA would like to send a special thank you to Marta Krysmann, Fatma Oezel-Salman & Lauren Hamilton who were a tremendous help!

Winter Fayre

Thank you to the PTA, the teachers and all the staff who worked so hard to make sure our Winter Fayre was magical. The hall was filled with laughter and the smell of warm waffles! We raised a massive £1,059 so thank you to everyone who came and joined in the fun. This year we have used our PTA funds to buy our brand-new hockey goals and we have more exciting plans for this year. It is great to be able to buy new equipment for the children thanks to our PTA and incredibly supportive parents.

Nativity Preparations

Our Nativity preparations are well underway for this year’s performance of Lights, Camel, Action! All the children and staff are very excited to share this show with their parents! Please take the time to practice with your children at home in order to improve their confidence and help them to enjoy the performance!

National ISA Swimming Gala

Well done to Shomi, who made Highfield proud at the National ISA Swimming Gala last week. He swam 2nd in the relay team, pulling the position from 7th to 5th by overtaking 2 strong swimmers. The team maintained this position until the finish. After an amazing performance, ISA North came 2nd overall! Well done, Shomi!

Hockey V SMH

On Wednesday, our hockey teams travelled to SMH for their first fixture of the year. Despite the frosty conditions, everyone was excited and eager to play, which showed in their performance. Both teams started well, with some excellent passing and dribbling to distribute the ball around the pitch. Although there was great pressure from some experienced SMH players, Highfield demonstrated excellent defending and teamwork. A special mention must go to Scarlett and Samira for volunteering to be our goalkeepers, they did a great job! Both teams created chances and Highfield created some pressure of their own, really testing the SMH defence. Both our teams managed to score, with Esme, Arthur and Alfie getting themselves on the scoresheet. Well done to all the boys and girls who played and thank you again to all the parents who came to support the teams.

Netball V AKS

Our Netball teams travelled to AKS this week, full of excitement and ready to play! Highfield dominated from the start in both games, with the girls clearly enjoying themselves in creative play. Our girls could not stop scoring and the day ended with two fantastic wins against a well-trained side. Well done to all the girls, it was wonderful to see their strong team spirit end in success! What a great way to end the term for Netball.

School Uniform and Winter Clothing

Please could I remind parents of the school uniform list which is published on our website. As we approach colder days at school, I would like to remind families that if children would like to wear additional clothing to keep warm, they should wear school coats, school hats and school scarves. Gloves should be navy or maroon.   All these items can be purchased from Monkhouse. Please make sure all items are named so they can be returned to your child if they are misplaced.

Named Clothing

We are still seeing large amount of clothing that are unnamed. Please could you make sure all items of clothing are named, preferably in more than one place, so we can make sure they are returned to your child quickly. Please could you also return any clothing to school that your child has picked up by accident so that it can be returned to its rightful owner. Thank you for your support.

Medication

If your child is prescribed any medication that requires dosage within school time, we will need a signed medication form which is available from the school office. Please speak to a member of the school office team if you are unsure. Also, any children who require inhalers, do require a spare one to be kept within school.
