Dear Parents

School Uniform and Winter Clothing

Please could I remind parents of the school uniform list which is published on our website. As we approach colder days at school, I would like to remind families that if children want to wear additional clothing to keep warm, they should wear school coats, school hats and school scarves. Gloves should be navy or maroon.   All these items can be bought from Monkhouse. Please make sure all items are named so they can be returned to your child if misplaced.

Children in Need

We will be celebrating Children in Need again this year on Friday 17th November. Children dressing up will need to bring £1 to donate. Please see the below theme choices for each class:

Nursery and Pre-School: Pyjamas

RB: Fancy dress

1W: Colourful clothes and wacky hair

2E: Colourful clothes and Pudsey

3D: Clothes and Colours that make us happy

4J: Pyjamas

5M: Pyjamas and onesies

5A: Student and teacher swap

6H: Wacky hair and mutli-coloured clothes

6P: Mismatch Everything

Open Morning

Thank you to our wonderful Y6 tour guides who represented our school to the highest standard and did an excellent job of welcoming prospective parents into our community. Our visitors were very impressed with the school, commenting on the high standard of work on display as well as the knowledgeable discussions taking place in the classrooms. We are extremely proud of everyone in our Highfield community and we hope to welcome new members after a successful open morning.

Mad Science Assembly

The school was amazed by the Mad Science Assembly today, where science was brought to life in the Sports Hall. All the children and staff enjoyed the experiments and learnt a lot! You will receive a ParentMail inviting your child to sign up for this popular extra-curricular activity.

Spooktacular School Disco

The children, parents and teachers all enjoyed a spooktacular Halloween disco today, with everyone looking fantastic and frightening in their costumes! After a Halloween feast in the dining room, the children were treated to DJ Drake on the decks. Everyone had so much fun and it was the perfect way to end our first week back in school. A special thank you to Ms Eccles, as well as all parents and staff who supported this event, for making it a very special evening for the children.

Nursery Plans

Our exciting new building plans have now been approved. We are delighted to announce that construction will commence early in the New Year, bringing us closer to providing our Nursery and Pre-School children with their permanent home from home base.

School Charity

After the School Charities Assembly last term, where each form was given the chance to talk about the charity they would like the school to support, the School has now voted and the school Charity for this Term is ‘Make a Wish.’ I am sure the whole school will now get behind raising funds for this worthwhile cause.

Staff Updates

We would like to offer a warm welcome to our new Chef, Mrs Aspey who has already made a wonderful impression with the children at lunch times. We also welcomed our new cleaner, Mrs Fisher who does an amazing job making sure our classrooms are ready for another day of fun and learning.

Netball

After a strong start, our girls demonstrated outstanding determination and strength to maintain the lead against a tough SMH team. The opposition did not make it easy but our teamwork triumphed and the match finished 8-5 to Highfield. A massive well done to the girls who worked hard and never gave up!

Cross Country

On Thursday, a group of 10 children travelled to SMH to compete in a well-attended cross-country competition. It was a challenging course in tough weather, but the children’s high spirits pushed them to finish in great times. Highfield Priory’s top 4 finishers were: Lily (21), Ahmad (27), Adam (45) and Arthur (52).
